Favoured State + Kosmetika + Biff

8:00PM
Favoured State are launching their first single ‘It’s A Mess’ at the Gem, in the lead up to their debut EP release. Emerging in the last 12 months as an energetic live act with a gritty and groovy sound, Favoured State’s influences include bands like Stuck, Squid and Goggs. With their signature loud, rhythmic and powerful delivery, ‘It’s A Mess’ addresses the concepts and fallout of misinformation in a post-truth era. Recorded by Calum Newton and mastered by Mikey Young. Favoured State consists of James Morris (guitarist and vocalist), Mikey Ellis (bass), Hugh Shanahan (guitar/synth) and Andy Blackman (drums). Joining the lineup is a fantastic entourage of Melbourne’s punk talent: Kosmetika’s new venture into DIY new wave, art rock and synth will be on full display. Originating with inspirations stemming from shoegaze, dark/synth wave, and Russian gothic pop music, the band are now experimenting with some more abrasive industrial sounds whilst holding onto their power pop roots. With their latest album “Illustration” featuring fan favourites like “Psycho TV” and “House”, you’re surely in for a treat: https://kosme-tika.bandcamp.com/ Biff need no introduction. Emerging as the toughest garage punk band around, their DIY sound blends with some doomy high octane punk, with a nostalgic quality that will get you going.
